I’m such a ‘tulle’

Tulle is the fabric of fun, romance, and sexiness.  Girls and women can’t help but swoon over this playful fabric as the layers float in the wind and swish as you walk.  I love the “swish” and can’t help myself but play with my tulle skirt each time I wear it.  (It’s kind of a problem because I usually pay more attention to my skirt as I am move it side to side than to the world around me.)  I honestly would describe myself as having the memory of a fish when I wear tulle because I will be talking with someone and then 4 seconds later I will be playing with my skirt.  Soon after that someone will say my name and I will drift back into the conversation, say something witty (I hope), and then go back to playing with my skirt.  I was at a party once and wore a black tulle dress- ooooh la laaa 😉  I didn’t know many people at the party so was making an effort to socialize.  I really shouldn’t have worn the dress that day, and overestimated my self-control.  Soon enough I found myself all alone in a corner.  All my friends had left me to stand there playing with my skirt; they had wanted to see how long it would take for me to realize I was all alone. Safe to say- I have problems, but I’m ok with that.

Orange is the New Black

Even though we are in the middle of winter, spring lines are already appearing on the runway and in the stores.  Blood orange, coral, tangerine and cherry-orange spice up your wardrobe and are perfect compliments with any outfit.

One would think that neutral colors create the infinite possibility of a versatile wardrobe.  Yes it is true that a camel brown bag will go with any outfit, but have you ever considered orange as an everyday color?  I purchased a red Michael Kors bag a while back and accessorized it so as to brighten up my outfits.  I had never considered orange as a contender until recently when  orange bags were featured at the runway shows of Mulberry and Chanel during the Spring 2014 Fashion Week.  From soft to vibrant shades of orange, designers are setting the stage for a colorful and fun year.

I wonder if there are 50 shades of orange…? hehe

I am truly excited to add orange to my wardrobe this spring.  Whether it’s the extra pop that I need for a lifeless outfit, or the color choice of the evening; this season staple won’t fade away any time soon.

Orange you glad I told ya?

I always see people wearing only one color.. usually that color is black and in the summer it changes to white.  Isn’t time for a change?

Here’s one version of an all orange outfit that I put together:

Obsession- mixed prints

Some days I have it “all together” with my outfit, hair and makeup.  (This doesn’t happen often). Usually I wake up long after my alarm clock is going off (damn you snooze) and have to rush to find a shirt that matches with my bottom.  With my sleepy state in the morning before work, I doze off and try to keep my eyes open while searching through my clothes.  Mornings are tough and always a battle.  However, I have found that in this sleepy state I create the best outfits which is always a surprise.  I have even worn my juicy pajama bottoms to work with heels and been praised for the look.  Really?! Haha, I will take it! I called them harem pants and created a comfy but sophisticaed look.  Fashion is art and you are a clean pallete every morning and what you create and put together becomes who you are and what you feel for the day.  Recently, I have become obsessed with prints which make your outfit chic and different.  Who doesn’t want to be fresh and inspirational?

When mixing and matching prints I try to keep a color scheme to tie the outfit together so that you’re not screaming “LOOK at ME” but rather saying “This is Me- risky, independent and fun!” One of my most recent outfit loves was when I wore a pair of J.Crew skinny jeans in camo, a BCBG white blouse with red polka dots and red ballet flats from Joe Fresh.  My color theme was red and I even topped it off with red jane iredale lipstick in the color Karen.

Like my clothes, I mix and match between stores and designers.  I don’t like to have the same look everyday and if you buy all your clothes at the same store you don’t have the freedom of expression.  I like to mix edgy with soft or a floral outfit with biker boots.  One store that I constantly look at for ideas and shop at is J.Crew.  They have done a wonderful job this year with their print selection.  I like their designs because they are classy and can be worn with other items seamlessly.  I like to shop at the J.Crew Outlet because of the great prices which means I can buy MORE! Let’s just say I might need to expand my closet space soon… haha!

Tea Time

As most of my friends know, I am a tea-addict. Yes, you heard me right!  It’s hard to imagine someone could love hot flavored water so much!

I recently took my addiction to the next level and visited Harney & Sons in Millerton New York.  This is one of two shops and tasting rooms in the U.S.  The other one is in Soho in New York City.

I went with my boyfriend, who of course loves tea almost as much as I do, a deciding factor in the beginning of our relationship of course! 🙂  We walked into the side cafe and roamed through the tea store, finally making it to the TEA ROOM! (You can tell my excitement).  There were two walls full from top to bottom with loose leaf tea.

We tried a few that we thought sounded like they might be our new favorites.  One of them was Chinese Flower; it literally tasted like spring.

My all time favorite is Paris, but after trying the Boston tea, my favorite city might also become my new favorite tea!   Paris is a fruity black tea with caramel and vanilla flavors.  It’s subtly, which makes you love it so much, is similar to Boston.  Boston’s cranberry and almond flavoring make it a worthwhile cuppa on a rainy day.

It’s definitely worth a day trip or a stop in this small town in New York, on your way into the city.  If you don’t enjoy tea, at least go for the scones with the jam and clotted cream! Yummmmm!
